La Ballroom En Masse 2018 Production

La Ballroom En Masse Production 2018
Last November, i helped out at my school’s dance production show as a publicity designer.
Assisting artistic director in producing visual works and editing media for the show.
I led a team of juniors in creating social media visuals and other ad-hoc logistics.

Mainly focusing on creating content using Adobe Photoshop and Premier pro to edit background animations and pre-marketing materials.
In this page, i'll run through the materials i have done over 3 months. I started out with zero experience with Adobe Photoshop and
am completely self-taught. I believe that i have much more to learn and i am looking forward to hone my skills and finding my style.

1. Poster
Tells the story of a dancer, Meryl, who found her way back into competitive dancing after a major accident that changed her fate.
Soon after, her dance partner left her when she was "unable to dance".  With the support of her friends and parents, she picked herself up and changed a predestined tragic end, to the start of a new beginning - a new partnership.

The theme of the production is 'Loop' - incorporating the idea of flashbacks and starting a new story, we adopted a smokey theme. Depicting Meryl's misty vision of her future, which was made clear when she decided to stand up for herself and rise above the smoke.

After a series of brainstorming sessions with the artistic directors and committee team, these were the other variations that were produced.
 2. Animation Banners
Informative banners were made using Photoshop (GIF).
These are used to capture the attention of passer-bys and placed on digital TVs around the school on top of physical posters.

3. Starting Over - Physical Brochure.
With initiatives to reduce paper waste, we suggested have QR codes printed on tickets and have them printed at the registration booths.
Such initiatives also help reduce the number of physical brochures being produced as well.
We also set up a box - 'drop off your brochures', for audience to return their brochures to be recycled for the next day if they do not wish to keep them.
4. Ticketing
Had to think about the space constraints, and colours used to easily differentiate tickets between 2 days with just one glance so as to quicken up the ticket entry process.
2 Show Days Tickets with QR code & website
5. Electronic Brochure
Accessible through QR code / website.
With considerations of a dimly lit theater, i chose a darker background for the e-brochure for audience to comfortably access these information.
I also liaised with external photographers, planned and visualized how the photos should be taken to showcase each content of the brochure.
6. Social Media
Social media count down post over 60 days.
